The Old Hag in the Forest

There once was an old hag who lived in the large oak tree that stood in the middle of the forest. She was always lurking around the forest and spying on people as they walked through the forest. Even worse, she'd scare them almost half to death and drag them to the oak tree. When somebody figured out that maybe the person was missing, they would walk around searching for them. But the person who was dragged to the tree would never be found again. One day, a girl named Catherine was very anxious to go to school because her teacher was going to have all the students decorate their own snowflake. So, Catherine decided to go the shortest route to school, which was through the forest. After finishing her scrambled eggs and kissing her father goodbye, she wandered down the street. Then she turned to the next street, and at the end of the street she stood. Then she galloped back to the street she was on before and hopped in the bushes. The forest was dark that day, and it was raining. There were thorns that looked like they were reaching out and were trying to pull Catherine to the ground. Although the forest was eerie, Catherine was not scared one bit. Catherine was so happy that she didn't notice a lot of things. Like the fact the she was almost in the middle of the forest and that there was this owl that was coughing out a pellet. Also, the fact that there were bushes moving and twisting, but there was no wind whatsoever. As Catherine was dashing through the forest, she slid on a tree root and fell to the ground. She sank down in the mud and she was stuck. Catherine tried to wiggle out, but it was so strong that it was holding her back. She turned to the right and then to the left. Out of the comer of her eye was a woman with gray hair that was standing on a little rock. "Do you need help little girl", the horrifying old woman said. "Yes!" Catherine had yelped. Then the old hag grabbed Catherine's hands and pulled her up. "Thank you so, so, so much!" Catherine said and wanted to go to her classroom at the very moment. But, the old hag was holding her hand tightly and wasn't going to let go. "Well, I should go now because class begins soon", Catherine exclaimed. "Deary dear, I'll show you a quicker way. Follow me." The old hag guided her up the creek and they stopped in the middle. Then they walked a little ways further and stopped at an old oak tree. The old hag grinned in delight and put her hand in one of her 3 pockets. She pulled out a long gold dagger that had dried blood on the tip. Catherine screamed, she wanted to run but she was too frightened. So, she shoved her fist in the old hag's stomach and turned around running and pleading for help. She went right down the creek and stumbled on a few rocks. But that wasn't the challenge, the challenge was in front of her! A huge colossal boulder was in front of her and there was no way to get past it without turning. If she turned, the old hag could easily snap her and most likely kill her. Catherine had to think fast and she came up with a plan. The old hag was charging towards Catherine, head first. She was holding out her arm and in her hand was the dagger. It was pointed towards Catherine. The old hag was as fast as lighting. With a zip she was almost there, but when Catherine moved out of the way the old hag hit the rock. She fell to the ground. She was in agony. She had excruciating pain because she hit her head on the rock and had broken her arm too. The old hag was finally dead. She would never come back. With that, Catherine cried "Yippee!" and ran towards school. As she was running away, people emerged from the oak tree and were running to their homes. As, soon as they were all out, the old hag popped in the tree. She was yelling, but no one could hear. That was the last anyone heard of the old hag in the forest. |
